
Dr. Gillian Smith is a leading violin teacher in the Halifax area with over 20 years of teaching experience. She maintains an active private violin teaching studio at her home studio in Bedford, NS.
Her students have been top prizewinners in local, regional, and national competitions, including the Canadian Music Competition and the FCMF National Music Festival and have also been recipients of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Gold Medal.
Gillian is currently accepting new students at RCM Level 3/Suzuki Book 2 through RCM ARCT.
She holds three degrees in violin performance: a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota.
Gillian is also a member of the string faculty at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts and teaches violin through the Conservatory off-site at her home studio in Bedford.
She is a member of the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teachers Association (NSRMTA).
